Enough Already!

Notice: The regularly scheduled blogging attempt to be somewhat positive and inspirational has been preempted with whining.

front doorDo you have a particular life lesson that just won’t seem to leave you alone?  Where you work on it and work on it, and eventually get resolution, and you feel good for a while, but just as you’re breathing easy and minding your own business, you see its sorry face back on your doorstep? Don’t you want to slam the door after this happens a few times?

That’s pretty much where I’m at today, staring down a lesson I swear I’ve blogged about ad nauseam. When it reappeared a week or so ago, I thought I’d lose my mind in exasperation, but I allowed the unwelcome guest in and tried to figure out why it was demanding attention this time around.

I assumed there was yet another wound or character defect to be excavated, like all other lessons that have come my way.  I worked under that assumption until I realized that this time I was called to take action based on what I had learned during previous visits from this issue.  A lesson to act…..well, that was unusual, but I acted accordingly and felt pretty good about it afterward.

Later that day I thought I could blog about how this differs from other lessons.  And then I started to feel a smidge self-congratulatory to be at a higher level of consciousness with all of this.

Until I found myself this morning in a frenzy, once again.  This stupid lesson has outworn its welcome and I’m sick of it!

A short hike in the crisp fall air helped clear my head so I could see what I needed to see: I have to stop giving my power to other people and instead trust my perceptions and experiences.

Problem is, I’ve seen this before.  Many times.  Why do I keep forgetting this?  Why do I keep choosing to believe other people more than myself?

I don’t know, but obviously I need to do extra homework, because I really don’t want to see this visitor ever again.
